TAE Certificate, Diploma, or a Bachelor degree: What should I choose?

The TAE certificates are classified into four levels: I, II, III and IV. Higher the level of the certificate, the more advanced it is.

Certificate I and Certificate II Courses

Certificate I and Certificate II courses are entry-level courses – the students do not need to possess any prior knowledge. If you haven’t taken on any course lately, then you should start with these ‘entry-level’ TAE courses. These provide a basic introduction to the field of your interest.

Certificate III Courses

If you are looking to upgrade your skills in a particular area, then you can sign up for Certificate III TAE courses. However, before signing up, you will need to have acquired the Certificate II and a certain level of work experience. If you are interested in working in the Australian healthcare industry, then you can choose Certificate III in individual support as well.

Certificate IV Courses

These courses are the most advanced level courses – you can get admitted after completing the Certificate III course. Certificate IV TAE courses impart practical workplace knowledge and skills to the candidates and prepare them to earn job opportunities in the VET sector.

Diploma Qualifications

If you want to understand the working procedure and environment of the industry then you must sign up for Diploma courses like TAE50216; of course, Bachelor Degree is a qualification of higher level, but the skills required to work in the industry, can be availed of from a Diploma. Apart from individual support courses, Diploma courses also help an individual in earning job opportunities in the Australian industries.

Bachelor Degree

Bachelor’s degree is generally offered through universities and is one of the most popular ones. Unlike TAE courses, there are several entry requirements for a Bachelor’s degree. You can specialize in a particular area of study while acquiring a Bachelor’s degree. After this, you can also apply for Master’s and further for PhD.

What should I choose?

Certain factors need to be considered before choosing between course like TAE50216, Certificate TAE, and a Bachelor’s degree.

  • Duration: First you need to make up your mind about how long you want to continue your studies? If you want to do short and effective courses then you can sign up for a course like Certificate IV TAE and if you want to invest 3-6 years, then you can opt for a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Method:  Nowadays, many courses are delivered online, apart from the traditional face-to-face method. While certificate and TAE diploma courses can be availed of online, almost all the degree courses are delivered through the traditional classroom method. In this case, you must evaluate what is best for you.
  • Employment: This is the most important factor that needs to be considered – you must research the employment opportunities that can be earned after passing out. Courses like Certificate IV TAE40116 and TAE diploma offer workplace knowledge, attracting better opportunities, while a Bachelor candidate needs to acquire higher qualifications for better exposure.
